Best antiaging tip ever: drink a glass of wine at dinner every night.
No, it’s not a joke. Wine’s the reason French women seem to stay forever young. That glass of Merlot they drink with their quiche Lorraine or ratatouille every day is chockfull of resveratrol, one of the most powerful antioxidants around. Word on the street is, resveratrol’s the reason French can indulge in cheese and other fatty delicacies without compromising their health - or skin.

What is Resveratrol?
Resveratrol is a polyphonic bioflavonoid antioxidant in the skin of red grapes and red wine. But you’ll also find it in dark berries, raw cocoa, Mexican bamboos and a double dozen plants you can’t eat (bummer!).
Plants make resveratrol to protect themselves from their enemies, such as the sun and mold. Take red grapes. These fruits grow in regions with a cold, foggy climate - a playground for mold. Without resveratrol, mold would take over and make the grapes go bad before we can eat them.
But what does it do for the skin?
Resveratrol Is A Powerful Antioxidant
When it comes to antioxidants, the more the merrier. You don’t want to rely on just one to do the whole antiaging job alone.
Just make sure resveratrol is in your antioxidant cocktail. Studies show that resveratrol prevents UVB-induced damage, including wrinkles and dark spots.
Resveratrol works by reducing the inflammation caused by the sun, a silent killer that destroys your cell’s DNA, collagen and elastin. Less inflammation = less skin damage.
Resveratrol Is Kickass SIRT Booster
SIRT, what?
SIRT genes are your “longevity genes”. They make sirtuins, antiaging enzymes that guard skin cells and make sure they have all the time they need to repair their DNA.
It works like this: UV rays, pollutants and other enemies damage your skin cells every day. When sirtuins are around to protect them and speed up the repairing process, more of the damage is fixed.
The older you are, the more damaged your cells get. That’s when they need sirtuins the most. Sadly though, that’s when they let you down. Sirtuins deplete with age. So unfair!
Enter resveratrol. It’s the most powerful SIRT booster out there. When you have your daily glass of red wine or use a serum with resveratrol, such as our Super-C Vitamin C Serum, you give your sirtuins a much-needed boost!
Resveratrol Has Anti-Microbial Properties
Remember when I mentioned grapes make resveratrol to protect themselves from their arch-enemy, mold?
Well, according to science, resveratrol works just as well at killing bacteria and fungi like Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, and Trichophyton mentagrophytes.
If they were to find their way onto your skin, resveratrol would make sure they wouldn’t do you any harm.
At your next holiday party, forget the soda. Go for the wine.
