Do you know what you're eating?
I know, we are a beauty brand - so why do we talk so much about food? Well, as they say, you are what you eat.
Premature aging is what you see on the outside, and the products we sell will help you out with that. But if you are seeing aging on the outside, then you better believe it's happening on the inside, too. Stolen beauty inside, and out. When you put healthy foods into your body you will not only be more beautiful on the outside, but more importantly, healthier and stronger on the inside, too.
Something as simple as spaghetti with tomato and basil sauce can be so deceiving. You thinking you're eating what Mother Nature has grown for you when in reality those wheat and tomatoes are GMOs. And that's not a very good thing for you. Here's why:
-
Unknown Health Risks
Genetically modified organisms are a new thing. They've only been around since the '90s, which isn't really long enough for scientists to determine how they impact your health long-term. Will they cause cancer or some dangerous mutation in your body? We simply don't know. What we do know is that messing with anyone's genes is never a good idea. It could lead to all sorts of diseases both for the plant and whoever eats it. Are you sure you want to take the risk?
-
Too Many Pesticides
Genetically modified seeds require pesticides and herbicides. You know, the poison that kills unwanted plants and weeds. Not exactly the kind of thing you want on your plate. And while it's true that GMOs aren't the only crops that need pesticides to keep pests and weeds away, the type sprinkled on them is the absolute worst. It's called glyphosate and it's a herbicide that has been shown to have a negative effect on your gut. It may just be the reason why so many of your friends are dealing with digestive health issues and food allergies these days...
-
Environmental Impact
All those pesticides aren't bad just for you or for weeds. They can also pollute the soil, water and air. Not to pick on glyphosate, but its antibiotic properties can cause havoc on the environment too. They can deprive the soil of the nutrients it needs to grow healthy and nutritious plants. If we keep this up, we may soon be eating anemic carrots and kale...
-
Unwanted Mutations
GMOs can generate mutants. How? Thanks to their seeds. Seeds like to travel, hoping to find new places to grow. When GMO seeds do, they can contaminate other seeds, creating new species that scientists never meant to create. These seeds turn into plants that animals and humans alike could munch on, with who knows what disastrous consequences for everyone's health.
-
Patents and lawsuits
Sometimes, those travelling seeds land on a poor farmer's field. And that could just be the thing that makes him shut down business for good. Because those seeds are usually patented. That's how those big corporations make money, after all. By creating and patenting new foods.
So, if a farmer dares to save a seed that accidentally landed on its soil, he could be sued. And if that seed, without the farmer's knowledge or intention, takes root and creates a new plant, same thing. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen. Guess who'll win?
We hope we've given you some interesting food for your thoughts to munch on. You literally are what you eat - garbage in, garbage out - so give GMO foods a skip and opt for organic produce whenever possible. Your body will thank you!
