This is my second review of the product (the first was published here with date 03/20/2021). I'd originally given the product 4 stars, as I had assessed that despite the fact that the cream is brightening, it's not doing much for my dark circles. I repurchased because I like the cream, and I can now say that after a few days of application day and night, I do not need my concealer anymore...it's insane. What I changed is that I now apply the cream on wet skin, and it is the first thing I apply after washing (I used to apply on top of moisturiser before). I also apply all over my face as a serum, to take advantage of the benefits of overall hydration, and help get rid of some discoloration from spots, etc (PIH). I had to update the review to do it justice. I am now a full convert and this has become an absolute stable in my routine, and one I've been recommending to others online like mad. Extremely impressed. Well done babyface for creating such an amazing product, at a price where similar products would cost more than double, and without bs ingredients like fragrance. I bow to thee
I had tried numerous brand creams for the puffiness under my eyes and nothing worked until I found Babyface!!! I saw a difference early on and I will continue to use this product.
First of all let me say that I ordered this product from the UK during Christmas. There seemed to be a shipping issue (understandably with the chaos) and initially I didn't receive my order. I contacted babyface and they sent me a second product immediately, so I do loved that. 10/10 for this. So...this cream, which I got primarily for my dark circles, is interesting for a variety of reasons: a) Very logical ingredients that actually have been shown to do something about hyperpigmentation, such as trenaxemic acid and bearberry extract (although I think a more effective formulation would also likely contain alpha arbutin and liquorice extract, maybe also niacin amide). b) Very hydrating and occlusive formulation. Takes a wee bit to absorb, but makes you skin very soft. Love that. c) No fragrance. ALSO love that. d) It actually DOES lighten the skin. Just not my dark circles very much....I should have taken pictures to properly gauge this effect, and that's my omission. I seemed to be noticing something at some point, but whatever it was, it wasn't very striking. Now the problem is, dark circles have a variety of causes. Mine are largely genetic (I have a Mediterranean complexion) and I actually have a different -type- of skin around my eyes in this area. It's hard to describe, but there's a clear- almost geographical line- that separates my peri-orbital area from the rest of my face! in the literature it is usually under terminology like 'extension of demarcation lines' and has also been noticed in Indian complexions. Hence, my dark circles, which I have had for quite some time, are likely to be very resistant to treatment. However, here's the kicker. When I put it in the under eye area of my boyfriend, who is English and a white boi, omg. I can see his eye skin brighten before my very eyes in a matter of seconds. I cannot see why I should penalise a cream that cannot do what most, if not ALL creams around there, will never be able to do, or will never be able to do for MY dark circles at least. Giving 4 stars because I'd have loved to see the addition of more agents like niacinamide and/or liquorice extract. however, I also understand that this is a multi-purpose product (not just dark undereyes) and there's only so many actives you can fit. I tried it all over my face today and it gave it a nice dewey, bright complexion. I am considering repurchasing the bigger size and using it all over my face :) ...or as a serum under another moisturiser. But have to try this a bit more.
Thanks for your input, Eleanna! You may find that with time, your under-eye circles may improve. The Haloxyl is what we use for dark circles that are caused by thinning skin and visible haemoglobin. It can take a few months to really see results though, so don't give up just yet. :) Also to note, the Bearberry is the origin of Arbutin, so this should give you the same effect over time.
I like this the best out of the three products I purchased. It is moisturizing but nothing like I thought it would be.
its a smoothing cream but not for puffiness.
